The loss of credits when students transfer from community colleges to universities results in increased time and cost for students and makes these students far less likely to earn bachelor’s degrees. Unfortunately, many community college students are not able to transfer most of their credits earned for application to their baccalaureate degrees. This session will explore possible causes and solutions related to credit loss in Ohio.
Presenters:
Misty Sommers, Transfer Operations Analyst, Kent State University
She will report on timing, workload, and communication issues affecting her team in their efforts to grant accurate transfer credit to incoming community college students.
Dr. Shanna Smith Jaggars, Assistant Vice-Provost of Research and Program Assessment, The Ohio State University
She will report on research her team has done on the acceptance and application of TAG/OTM credits at OSU.
Dr. Paula Compton, Associate Vice-Chancellor& Executive Director, Articulation and Transfer and
Dr. Candice Grant, Senior Director of Ohio Guaranteed Transfer Pathways, Ohio Department of Higher Education
They will report on ODHE’s initiatives and efforts to smooth the transfer process and reduce the loss of transfer credits.
